Tim Burton

Romantic Tim...

NB: Born 25 August 1958. Graduated from Animation faculty and worked as animator. Burton started his career as Hollywood filmmaker in 1985 with his debut "Pee-wee`s Big Adventure". Burton`s favorites genres are romantic fairytales and comic. All his films (with the exception of "Pee-wee" and "Ed Wood" (1994)) are Sci-Fi. The most of his movies ridicule cliches of mass genres. Burton`s terrific inventiveness and imagination put him among best Hollywood filmmakers. Burton`s favorite actor is Johnny Depp. They made 3 films together- "Edward Scissorhands" (1990), "Ed Wood" (1994) and "Sleepy Hollow" (1999). Tim also worked with Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kim Basinger, Michael Keaton, Christopher Walken... In 1995 Butron was nominated for Cannes Golden Palm for his film "Ed Wood". It is said that Burton wants to make a remake of legendary "The Cabinet of Caligari"with Johnny Depp in leading role...

Ridley Scott

Ridley on Oscar ceremony

NB: Born 30 November 1937. Started his career in Great Britain and then moved to Hollywood. He founded his own company and became famous as the creator of original TV-ads in unsusal visual style. His unique stylish talent became more obvious when he made his first film "The Duellists" in 1977. Ridley Scott`s films are known as created in unusual style and their visual beauty often plays the main role. Scott got world`s fame in 1979 after his legendary film "Alien". Among his main films are: "Blade Runner" (1982), "Black Rain" (1989), "Thelma & Louise" (1991) and "Gladiator" (2000)... Scott worked with Michael Douglas, Jeff Bridges, Andy Garcia, Harrison Ford, Russell Crowe, Tom Berenger... Ridley got 2 Academy Awards` Oscar nominations as Best Director (for "Thelma & Louise" and "Gladiator") and a Golden Globe nomination (for "Gladiator"). In 1977 his film "The Duellists" got Cannes Film Festival Award as Best Debut... It is said that Scott want to make "Alien" prequel...

James Cameron

Too early for grey hair, isn`t it?..

NB: Born 16 August 1954. Early in his career was visual effects coordinator and Art Director on some Sci-Fi films. His third film called "The Terminator" put Cameron among the best action directors of all-time. And nowadays Cameron is one of the most outstanding action filmmakers. Among his best films are: "Aliens" (1986), "The Abyss" (1989), "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991). His "Titanic" (1997) won many Academy Awards` Oscars and gave Cameron right to cry out "I am the king of the world!" on Oscar ceremony... James Cameron worked with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Biehn, Sigourney Weaver, Ed Harris, Leonardo Di Caprio... In 1998 Cameron won 3 Academy Awards` Oscars for "Tatanic" (as Best Director, for Best Editing and Best Film). Cameron got 6 Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films Award`s nominations (for "The Terminator", 2 times for "Aliens", "The Abyss", "Terminator 2", "True Lies") and 6 times won this Award! In 1985 he got Avoriaz Sci-Fi Film festival Award for "The Terminator"...

Luc Besson

Why Besson doesn`t wear tie?..

NB: Born 19 March 1959. Besson was born in Paris in the family of scuba diving instructor so he dreamt to be a scuba diver but a terrible accident at the age of 17 ruined his plans. From now on the way to Big Blue was closed for Luc. In 1981 Besson made short-movie called "L'Avant-dernier", and he started his carrer as professional movie director in 1983 with his debut "Le Dernier Combat"- dark post-punk drama about cruel future. But he got actual fame of "the last hope of French cinema" and "new-new wave fimmaker" two years later after his legendary film called "Subway". Besson makes his films in a style of "newest wave" and "post-modern style". His melodramatic detective stories were continued with "Nikita" (1990) and "Leon" (1994) and "Big Blue" (1988) told us about his juvenile dreams. In 1997 Besson made "The Fifth Element" and in 1999 he created his last film "Joan of Arc"... Luc Besson worked with Christopher Lambert, Jean Reno, Tcheky Caryo, Dustin Hoffman, Jean-Hugues Anglade, John Malkovich, Garry Oldman, Bruce Willis... Besson nominated for French Award Ceasar 12 times but won it only once (as Best Director for "The Fifth Element").
